Your relationship can’t wait for next week’s session.
An intensive is a focused reset that helps you stop spiraling and start moving toward each other again.
Providing Private Couples Intensives in Indiana
You Don’t Have to Wait for Change!
You’ve built success in many areas of your life — your career, your friendships, even your self-growth.
But in your partnership, you feel stuck.
You try talking, arguing, repairing, and sometimes… nothing shifts.
The same fights, the same distance, the same frustration.
Weekly therapy is helpful, but for deep relational injuries or long-standing patterns, it often feels like you’re dragging one foot behind you the whole time.
You start conversations, you uncover wounds — then time’s up, and you wait.
That delay lets old patterns reassert.
That’s why an intensive may be the better path.
Why Intensive Couples Counseling?
Traditional Weekly Therapy
For relationships that are in crisis, the start-and-stop of 60 or 90-minute sessions can make it difficult to get to root issues. You come into session, start to unpack the concerns and issues and too quickly, your therapy time is up! Then you have to wait another week or two to start the difficult conversation again!
vs.
Relationship Intensive
A couples therapy intensive is an immersive, concentrated approach. Over 1 to 3 consecutive days (online or in person), you’ll:
-
Break through patterns that feel “immune to change”
-
Get to root-level dynamics holding you back
-
Practice new ways of being in real time
-
Build momentum and continuity that weekly sessions often lack
It’s not therapy cram — it’s relational deep work that accelerates healing, clarity, and connection.
* INTENSIVES CAN BE IN-PERSON OR ONLINE *
Is a Marriage Counseling Intensive Right for You?
A couples therapy intensive may be the best fit if you and your partner are:
In chronic conflict — arguments keep looping without resolution.
Disconnected and distant — living like roommates instead of partners.
Stuck despite therapy — you’ve tried weekly sessions but the progress doesn’t hold.
Ready to dig deep — committed to doing the hard work and showing up fully.
Intensive Couples Counseling...
Starts Days Before You See Me...
You’ll be sent a Gottman Comprehensive Relationship Questionnaire consisting of 337 questions about friendship, intimacy, emotions, conflict, values, trust, parenting, housework, finances, and individual areas of concern.
It’s a thorough couples therapy assessment tool that examines your relationship from a scientific point of view. Think of it as a road map for your relationship.
You’ll also be asked to fill out an extensive open-ended questionnaire about your opinions and views of the relationship.
Your honest thoughts provide me essential insights into your relationship. This allows me to help you efficiently and effectively.
By the time we have our first session together, I’ll already have a good idea of where you’re at, and we can dive right into repairing and resolving the issues in your relationship.

The Momentum
Your relationship will benefit greatly from the continuity and rhythm provided by the uninterrupted work!
It's a Major Opportunity For Transformation
Address the issues, settle the fights, and learn how to reconnect, build trust, and love well.
I'm a straight shooter
so let me be frank about who shouldn't sign up for an intensive:
Couples therapy (including Gottman Methods and Emotionally Focused Therapy) is contraindicated if your relationship is experiencing the following :
- domestic violence
- suicide prevention
- personality disorders
- alcohol and drug abuse that requires inpatient care
It’s not that you can’t go to Couples Therapy someday, but you will make more gains long term if you on get help from a mental health professional/facility who are specifically trained in handling your unique mental health concerns.
an intensive couples therapy is not a magic bullet that will solve all your problems.
For my part, I promise to bring my absolute A-game and make it worth your while.
and…
Your willingness and interest in improving your relationship is essential for this work to succeed.
It takes both of you to be open and willing to change.
It also takes a willingness to get comfortable with being uncomfortable.
If one of you has little motivation to work on your relationship in a sincere way or is seriously considering divorce, I may recommend a discernment counseling/discernment counseling intensive instead of the couples therapy intensive.
FAQ
The intensive therapy retreats range from between one and three days. You can choose how many days you want to attend, and typically we discuss this during the consult call.
- 1-Day – $1800
- 2-Day – $3600
- 3-Day – $5400
Half-Day Sessions
- 3 Hours – $900 (morning or afternoon)
A one-day intensive is ideal for couples seeking preventative care, couples with a solid relationship that have more minor issues to work out, and couples interested in premarital preparation.
Two and three-day intensives are for relationships that are experiencing a wide variety of problems.
For example:
- Your fights are chronic and escalating.
- You are facing an intimate betrayal or life transition that seems insurmountable
- You have stopped working as a team. There is no passion for life or each other.
Absolutely! Because the couples therapy intensive is designed to address your unique goals, you’ll get personalized support and guidance necessary for your relationship’s growth.
Intensives are private and confidential!
When booking an intensive, payment is due in full at the time you book your reservation in order to secure your date(s).
Intensives aren’t that common…
and those therapists who offer intensive couples therapy tend to offer retreats with no follow-up support…
…which means you have to start over with a different therapist for any ongoing sessions.
This can really be frustrating because some of that momentum may be lost as you start up again with a new therapist.
With me, as long as you live in Indiana, Florida or Connecticut (where I currently hold active professional licenses), you won’t have to start over with another counselor.
To be frank: It depends on our both of our schedules!
I do my best to fit you in as soon as possible.
You are welcome to submit the invoice for reimbursement but very few insurance companies will reimburse more than one hour of psychotherapy a week.
Additionally, insurance companies seldom cover couples counseling, as they usually do not categorize it as “medically necessary.”
