Depression

Depression doesn’t always look like sadness. Sometimes it looks like a person who still goes to work, still answers texts, still does the dishes, and feels nothing about any of it. Getting through the day isn’t the same as being okay.

The articles here answer the questions people ask once they admit something’s off: how long an episode lasts, how to tell how serious it is, what it looks like in teenagers (irritability more than tears), and how it shows up in men, who tend to call it stress or anger or nothing at all. There’s also a set of questions to sit with if you’re not sure what you’re feeling has a name yet.

These are for adults, teens, and the people who love them and can tell something’s wrong but don’t have the words. Reading about it is a reasonable first step. It is not the last one.

For support that takes your actual situation into account, here’s depression therapy in Indianapolis. You’ll meet the therapists and see what the first conversation looks like. Christie accepts insurance.
